The Haywood is an authentic old-school jacket, a stylish varsity that conceals a full suite of motorcycle-specific protection. Its top-of-the-line CE AAA rating is achieved thanks to a suite of Knox Micro-lock elbow and shoulder armor, an optional spine protector, and industrial grade, hand-polished center zippers with custom AERO pulls.
The AllSaints Milo is a modern take on a classic double-rider biker jacket with a decidedly minimalist design. It eschews both shoulder epaulets and the half belt and buckle enclosure that are ubiquitous among other motorcycle jacket styles, opting instead for just a front zipper, buttons and a front ticket pocket. This streamlined look gives it a clean, sleek profile that's well-suited to casual wear and combines particularly well with skinny jeans and boots.
It's also remarkably durable and lightweight for a leather jacket, largely due to its proprietary primary construction. Developed in-house, the brand's D-Tec Department dubbed the material D-Skin 2.0 and uses it for everything from the body to the sleeves of its jackets. It's 1.1mm to 1.3mm thick full-grain cowhide with ultra-long intact fibers and provides unparalleled levels of abrasion, abrasion, and tensile strength.
AllSaints' use of D-Skin 2.0 is augmented by other rugged premium materials and finishes, including a supple and breathable cotton canvas for the interior lining, YKK zippers throughout, an oil-resistant corduroy mandarin collar and cuffs, and underarm metal air vents. Its asymmetrical front zipper and cinchable waist and wrist cuffs add further abrasion resistance, while a suite of D30 Ghost armor is hidden in the shoulders and elbows, along with a pocket for a Level 2-rated QUATROFLEX spine protector (sold separately).
In terms of off-the-bike functionality, the Laslo also offers up plenty. The suite of removable D30 armor, a supple cowhide shell and Kevlar lining allow it to offer solid impact and slide protection while maintaining a decidedly stylish look, making it a great choice for riders who want to blend timeless looks with thoroughly modern protection. It's also backed by Helite's crash warranty, which allows you to just send in your jacket and a detailed description of your accident to have it replaced at no cost to you.
Finally, the jacket's unique waxing process also helps ward off rain and dirt while providing a soft feel that resists abrasion. However, the finish will eventually wear down and needs to be reapplied, so it's important to keep this in mind when choosing a biker jacket for long-term ownership.
A good leather biker jacket is a stylish and timeless piece that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The AllSaints Milo fits this description well with its slim fit and higher arm holes for a modern and masculine silhouette. It’s also fairly lightweight for a leather jacket as it is made of lambskin. This is the lightest of all leather skins and a little less durable than horse, buffalo or bovine steerhide but still durable enough for a leather jacket.
The AllSaints Milo comes with classic biker style hardware like the asymmetrical front zipper and snap down lapels. However, it lacks the shoulder epaulets and half belt that are common design details of biker jackets. It also has a more minimal cut with few bells and whistles.
The AllSaints Milo is a classy and sleek looking leather biker jacket that looks great when worn with smart trousers. It can also be worn with a casual look such as skinny jeans and boots. For a slightly more casual look you can add a detachable sweatshirt hood for an extra layer of warmth.
The Milo is a no frills, classic double rider leather jacket. It is minimalist in design and lacks the shoulder epaulets that are typical of most biker jackets. It has a front ticket pocket and that's about it. It's also lighter than the average leather jacket and made of lambskin leather which is less durable than horse, buffalo or bovine steerhide. This is one of the reasons why it's less expensive. It's also coated in some sort of plasticizer or straight up fabric paint which gave it that acrid, sad chemical smell that came off when I first opened it. It's the same finish that gives most AllSaints leather products their wretched "antique" appearance and is probably the source of the hang tag warning that your warranty will be void if you remove it.
I got the XS size which fits pretty well and has that higher arm hole fit that's ideal for this style of leather jacket. It creates a nice, modern v-shaped silhouette that looks really polished with trousers but is equally masculine over casual jeans and boots. Its YKK brass zippers feel really sturdy and the stitching is very dense and even throughout without loose ends.
Essentially a modern take on the classic cafe jacket, this one is a great choice for riders who like to blend timeless looks with thoroughly modern protection. The defining feature here is the dual-material construction that lends it a high level of abrasion and slide resistance. Its 1.1mm thick, natural grain American cowhide shell is complemented by a Japanese over-dyed camouflage twill liner, which makes for a surprisingly lightweight and low-profile layer that can afford loads of impact and slide protection.
The jacket is trimmed with a zippered chest pocket, underarm metal air vents and traditional swivel-style sleeves for an unrestricted range of motion. It also conceals a suite of CE-compliant D30 Ghost elbow and shoulder armor, plus a pocket for accommodating a Level 2-rated QUATROFLEX spine protector (sold separately). All the hardware in here -- including the large brass front zipper and YKK zippers on the pockets and cuffs -- feels solidly constructed and well-made.
AllSaints also offers this biker jacket in a black or brown color, but I personally prefer the tan version for its neutral tones and versatility. The leather looks good and the stitching is clean and even with no loose ends. It's also fairly lightweight for a leather jacket, which isn't really a surprise as lambskin is much lighter than horse, buffalo or bovine steerhide.
The lining is also nice and soft, and it's the type of twill that can be wiped clean easily, which is important for a jacket you'll be wearing frequently. It's the sort of lining that will also wear in nicely over time, getting more comfortable and soft with each wash.
Considering all the features, the AllSaints Milo is an excellent value for riders who want to enjoy the benefits of a premium motorcycle jacket in everyday life. You can pair it with jeans and sneakers to get a streetwear look, or you can dress it up for a night out on the town. The fit is good, too -- not too snug or too big. The armholes are also cut a little higher, which is ideal for this style of jacket.
